A REDDITCH commercial vehicle dealership has made the front page of Farmer’s Weekly.
The article, focused on Abbey Commercials and their champion farming vehicle, the Suzuki Quadtruck.
Until four years ago, the Boss family business – which started in 1969 – had sold and serviced light commercial vehicles from all the mainstream brands.
Then came Andy Boss’ love affair with this most unlikely cast member of British farming, the Suzuki Quadtruck.
Andy said: “It was like winning the lottery, I’m so proud that we’re on the front of a national magazine, especially for something we’re really passionate about.
“My father set the company up over 50 years ago, so we’ve been long established in the area.
“People trust us, and so when we started selling these vehicles, consumers were willing to take a chance.”
Thanks to the work of Andy, it is rapidly establishing itself as the must-have runaround for any self-respecting farmer – a far cry from the Japanese fish markets one might expect it to call home.
There are now over 100 of them in the hands of farmers, foresters, gamekeepers and beekeepers, from Bodmin to Basildon and as far north as Berwick-upon-Tweed.
There are currently 16 on the newly established Quadtruck migration route from east Asia to east Worcestershire.
Abbey Commercials currently offers a pair of models – the older DA63T, built from 2005 to 2013, and its replacement, the DA16T.
Andy added: “Unfortunately we are having some delays with the shipping of the vehicles because of the war in Gaza.
“But it is wonderful that this vehicle is getting the praise and attention it deserves.”
