REDDITCH anti-knife crime activist Pete Martin has been recognised for his work at the West Mercia Quality Policing Awards.

Pete was recognised in the ‘Community Thank You’ category.

This year, Pete has provided more than 60 bleed kits to the local community, along with continuing his youth engagement work which has seem him speak to more than 5,500 young people in schools and colleges.

Pete has also processed more than 100 referrals for young people in need and has spoken to well over 35,000 young people since the start of his project.

Early in 2023, he was awarded a Points of Light Award by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and has recently been nominated by MP Rachel Maclean for another accolade at the House of Commons.

Last year, Pete’s ‘Drop The Knife’ campaign was also the Mayor of Redditch’s nominated charity.

Pete said: “We are very grateful to be recognised for our efforts and we will continue to support young people in our area.

“The association is locating to a new venue within the Old Needleworks in Britten Street in April and will continue to find various services for the youth in Redditch.

“This includes positive activities and free referrals to local police teams, social services and schools.”
