Fund-raiser launched for a Redditch Scout group after robbery

A RALLYING call has gone out to help raise funds for a scout group in Redditch after its base was heartlessly broken into.

Cub leader of 1st Matchborough Scouts Dave Hartles has set up a GoFundMe page to recoup the cash stolen and to pay for an alarm and a CCTV system installed.

Thieves stole a safe containing £400 in cash, bluetooth speakers, food and drink the group sells at fund-raisers and Easter eggs for the children.

The burglary took place around 4pm on Sunday.

West Mercia Police are investigating the incident and the scout group have been forced to close while police carry out their enquiries.

Dave urged any witnesses or anyone with information to contact the police.

He added: “Our group is a non profit organisation and helps many children every year build their confidence and learn life skills.

“Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.”
