A boy from Alcester has been admitted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital in a serious condition after an emergency incident at the River Arrow last night.

Emergency crews were called out in response to reports that a young child (under 10) had fallen into the water near Kingfisher Way at around 9.30pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said that a boy and girl had been retrieved from the water by the time they arrived.

A spokesperson said: “On arrival we found two patients who were already out of the water and needed medical treatment. A boy was in a serious condition and received specialist trauma care at the scene before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The second patient, a girl, was assessed and discharged at the scene.”

Warwickshire Police have confirmed they attended the incident which is believed to have happened on Jubilee Fields and said that a liaison officer has been assigned to the family.
