REDDITCH Mums are being urged to meet up and move to improve their physical and mental health as a new scheme is rolled out across the Borough.
Health Walks for Moms will see mums and carers – after dropping off children at school – getting together for a walk and a chat.
The scheme is led by volunteers, and aims to improve physical and mental health and will suit all abilities who can choose their own pace.
Portfolio holder for Leisure, Coun Juliet Barker Smith, said: “This is a brilliant new activity being introduced that could greatly benefit the physical and mental wellbeing of those taking part.
“Parenting is extremely stressful at times and these sessions will provide a free opportunity to get out into the fresh air and to meet others to share experiences with.”
Starting Friday September 13, the free weekly sessions are run by the Redditch Council and supported by Worcestershire Health Walks.
Leader of the Council, Coun Joe Baker, said: “We run lots of mixed gender sessions and wanted to create something just for women.
“The “Health Walks for Moms” is an event we are pleased to introduce and is a fantastic idea especially as the days get shorter.”
Anyone that wants to take part in these events should meet outside the Boathouse Café in Arrow Valley Countryside Centre for the first session on Friday September 13 at 9:30am.
