Studley Flower Show is a roaring success

Redditch Editorial 15th Sep, 2024   0

STUDLEY put on a fantastic display at its annual Flower Show last Saturday.

The show has been taking place in the village for more than 50 years and this year’s is of particular significance as it is being held in memory of Desmond (Des) Crow who sadly died on the day of last year’s event.

Phil Hunt said: “Due to very unusual weather conditions in 2024, it had been expected that entries to the show would be less than usual, in fact on the day the Organisers were very pleased to find that the number of exhibits was very good, and the quality of exhibits was excellent.”

The event was officially opened by the Studley Town Crier, Adrian Smith, in the usual manner, during which tribute was paid to Des Crow for his hard work in the Studley Community over many years.

Two new trophies for this year were donated by the Crow family – The Des Crow Cup for Best Vegetable Exhibit (classes 1-24) which was awarded to Paul Crofts.

And the Des Crow Cup for Best Flower Exhibit (classes 25-47) was awarded to Sarah Gowan.

The event was very well attended, and the certificates were presented to all the show class winners, followed by the child winner of the Spotty Pots competition and Parish Council Best Allotment, Best Garden and Community Awards.
