A REDDITCH filmmaker is due to release his second short film later this month.
Made in and around Redditch, Meeting Point tells the story of man in physical and mental torment as he tries to deal with personal trauma.
The plot follows main character Andy, who is unsure where his life is leading him – a chance encounter with a struggling single mother provides them both with a chance to share their stories and comprehend how fate has brought them to this place, this meeting point.
It was written by Redditch born George S Evans and has had critical success on the Film Festival circuit.
George wanted to follow up with a new and very different style in Meeting Point which could showcase his scriptwriting and directing skills.
Utilising his local network, Redditch-based Top Box Studios and his own production studio Five-Fifteen Productions, George and the production team set to work during the summer of 2024.
The lead character is played by Jon Laight who only recently entered the world of Performing Arts, having played Bill Sikes in the Top Box Theatre Company production of Oliver! at the Redditch Palace Theatre in February.
Meeting Point is his first time in front of the camera, Jon is a full-time fire officer and lives with his wife and two daughters in Redditch.
He said: “After having such an amazing and life-changing experience in my first theatre production as Bill Sikes, I was hungry to do more and when I saw the casting call for Meeting Point, I just had to go for it.
“Getting the part of Andy was a huge surprise and when we filmed all the different scenes in Redditch and even as far as a Brean Beach, it really opened up my eyes as to how the magic happens before the audience see it.
“We really hope people want to get involved and be part of something really special produced by a local star of the future.”
The official black-tie Hollywood style movie premiere takes place on October 27 at The Greig Hall in Alcester.
