In this article, we will discuss the popular bet ‘double chance’, and tell you about its features.

Double Chance meaning

Double chance is an opportunity to bet on 2 existing outcomes out of 3. Under such circumstances, with only a 33.3% probability your bet can be lost.

A very attractive offer from bookmakers – isn’t it? Yes, but there is one nuance: the odds on such bets are usually quite low because the bookmaker’s office perfectly understands that the probability of winning is twice as high.

That’s why double bets are often included in expresses, as the bettor has the opportunity to combine a pair of single bets so as to have good odds in the end.

How does it look like?

The most common double odds in BC lines are 1X – X2 – 12

If we talk about football, then betting 1X you bet on the fact that the outcome of the match will be either the success of the home team or a draw. If the guests win – your bet will be calculated as a loss.

As for the X2 bet, the away team must win or there must be a draw. If the host side wins – the bettor will lose his money.

12 is a bet on the success of any of the teams involved in the match. If the result of the match is a draw, the bettor will lose.

Example of double chance in betting

In order to clearly understand the double chance bet meaning – let’s consider an example.

Here is a screenshot from the betting line of the famous bookmaker with odds for the La Liga match between Celta Vigo and Getafe. As you have already understood, we are interested in the odds for 1X, 12, and X2. So, let’s see all the available options:

If we bet €100 on 1X, we will get €125 (€100 bet + €25 net profit) if the outcome of the match will be a win for Celta or a draw.

In case of the same €100 bet on X2 our winnings will be €172.7 (100+72.7), only now Getafe must win or draw to win. If at the double chance X2 bet Celta wins, we lose.

Bet 12 in this case means that our match between Celta Vigo and Getafe must end with either a win for the home team or a ‘win’ for the visitors. If there is a draw, our bet will lose.

Pros and cons of this bet type

Double chance is quite popular among bettors: they often include such bets not only in single but also in parlay bets. Of course, everyone knows what a single bet is, and the parlay bet definition lies in a combination of several bets in one with a multiplication of odds. Anyway, a double chance bets help to win in both cases.

Bettors have not one but two chances to win in one bet and this makes double chance very attractive. However, like the other betting types, double chance bet not guarantee the winning of each bet (in comparison with surebets that bring a profit to the punter despite the result). Moreover, bookmakers often set very low odds for such outcomes, and that’s why DC bets are often used in parlays.

Conclusion

Summarising all of the above-mentioned, it can be noted that the bet called double chance has a tangible advantage in a way that the punter has a higher chance of winning.
