Enjoy free festive fun in Woodrow and celebrate its brand-new public art

Redditch Editorial 13th Dec, 2024   0

WOODROW is lighting up this weekend with a free festive fun event for everyone.

Reimagine Redditch will be unveiling Woodrow’s new public artwork, created by Redditch residents alongside renowned glass artist Sarah Brown, just in time for Christmas.

The celebration and the reveal of the new artwork – from 2pm to 7pm tomorrow (Saturday, December 14) – will mark the culmination of the Love Woodrow project to brighten up Woodrow centre.

The event will include a lantern parade with art trail led by a Samba band, ‘Jacks of Frost’ stilt-walkers and carol singing around the Christmas tree.

Richard Bromhall, programme director for Reimagine Redditch, said: “This event is all about enjoying the festive season together and celebrating the incredible artwork created by the residents of Woodrow to brighten up its centre. Everyone is welcome to join us.”

He thanked everyone who supported the project, including Severn Arts, the Inclusive Communities Fund, Woodrow Community Centre, Woodrow Library, Your Ideas Redditch and Woodrow’s schools.

And he gave a special thanks to the ‘generous and imaginative local people who had taken part in creative events to co-create this inspiring new art’.

The Love Woodrow project is a collaboration between Severn Arts and Reimagine Redditch and the scheme is supported by a £69,000 grant from the Inclusive Communities Fund – a £9million project inspired by the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
