REDDITCH town centre was lit up with thousands of lights as community groups and organisations joined together in a magical festival of light parade.
Organised by the volunteer team behind Redditch Carnival and Redditch Loves the event brought a tangible feeling of community spirit to Church Green on a dark winter’s night.
The procession was led by this year’s carnival royalty, and participating groups included Indigo Arts, Church Hill Scouts, St George’s First School, Starlight School of Dance and SJ Dance Academy.
Father Christmas and his elves joined in the fun as well as film character The Grinch and a balloon snowman made by Redditch-based company Creativity.
Crowds were also treated to performances at the bandstand by choirs and singers. There were also numerous stalls offering gifts, food and crafts.
A pop-up performance by signing choir It’s a Sign took place outside the library.
It was the third time the event had been run and organiser Jo Bussey said: “We were completely blown away by how many groups and individuals took part in our parade.
“Everyone was amazing. All those lights really lifted up the town.”
