Chris Bloore MP advocates for improved rail services in meeting with Rail Minister

REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore met Rail Minister Sir Peter Hendy to address commuter concerns about reduced train services and the performance of West Midlands Railway.

The discussions focused on restoring the service to three trains per hour on the Cross-City Line which runs from Birmingham New Street to Bromsgrove and Redditch, via Barnt Green and Alvechurch.

The pair also talked about ensuring more reliable rail connections for local residents.

During the meeting, Mr Bloore emphasised the significant impact of service reductions on constituents and the need for urgent action to address delays, overcrowding and cancellations.

The Rail Minister acknowledged these issues and committed to exploring immediate steps to improve reliability and accessibility for Redditch commuters.

Mr Bloore said: “The current state of rail services in Redditch is unacceptable. Local commuters deserve better than delays, overcrowded trains and unreliable services. I was pleased to have a productive discussion with the Rail Minister, who recognised the importance of addressing these challenges.

“Restoring the service to three trains per hour would be a significant step forward and I will continue working with the Minister and stakeholders to secure meaningful improvements for passengers in Redditch and the villages.”

The MP also raised broader concerns about the overall performance of West Midlands Railway and the need for long-term investment in rail infrastructure to improve efficient public transport.

The Rail Minister said Mr Bloore’s concerns would be taken into account and committed to a review of current service levels.
