Redditch MP Chris Bloore champions youth mental health and kinship care support

REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore has reaffirmed his commitment to improving mental health support for young people and children in kinship care during Children’s Mental Health Week.

As part of this effort, Mr Bloore has successfully secured a Parliamentary debate on children’s mental health support in educational settings, receiving cross-party backing from 38 MPs across seven parties.

This debate will focus on how schools can play a crucial role in early intervention, the need for sustained investment in mental health services, and tackling child poverty as a key factor in youth wellbeing.

Mr Bloore also attended a Parliamentary event hosted by Hidden Strength, a UK charity providing free therapy for young people aged 13 to 24 through an innovative digital platform.

It highlighted the growing mental health challenges faced by young people and the urgent need for accessible support services.

Mr Bloore said: “Mental health support for young people is more important than ever.

“I am proud to support the launch of the Hidden Strength app, which will provide crucial, free therapy to young people across Redditch.

“No young person should struggle alone, and initiatives like this help ensure that support is just a tap away.”

Hidden Strength’s platform offers confidential, on-demand therapy from qualified professionals, bridging the gap in youth mental health services.

The app provides a secure and anonymous space where young people can seek help, access well-being resources and receive professional guidance when they need it most.

Linsey Lunny, CEO of Hidden Strength, said: “It is vital young people have access to free and effective mental health support.

“The Hidden Strength app ensures every young person, no matter their circumstances, can receive professional guidance and emotional support whenever they need it.

“We are delighted to have the backing of Chris Bloore in championing mental well-being for young people.”

Mr Bloore added: “What happens to us as children profoundly affects our lifetime mental health and outcomes.

“Schools are uniquely placed to provide early support, and there is strong evidence that school-based interventions improve mental health, behaviour, and wellbeing.

“This debate is an opportunity to ensure that children and young people, no matter their background, receive the support they need to thrive.”
