A BRAND new original pantomime is being performed this Sunday, inspired by Redditch and based on Lewis Caroll’s Alice in Wonderland, writes Aidan Kilcullen.
The Winyates community will stage ‘Redditch – We’re All Mad Here: our take on Alice in Wonderland’ at midday and 2.30pm this Sunday, March 2, at Arrow Vale High School.
Residents at Haywood Lodge Care Home and children at Arrow Valley First School have been helping to create the play and a unique script which showcases what Redditch residents really think of their borough.
Richard Bromhall, programme director for Reimagine Redditch, said: “I cannot wait to see what they have come up with.”
The pantomime is part of five Community Makers art projects by Reimagine Redditch, commissioning REACH CIC and Jestaminute Community Theatre (JCT) to help devise the play.
REACH CIC co-director Rachel Ind said: “It has been an absolute delight to see our community members embrace the challenge of creating something”
JCT co-director Jan Higgitt also added: “Mentoring and supporting all the participants to develop and create this show has been a real privilege.”
Tickets are free and are available in the REACH offices in the Winyates Centre, by emailing [email protected] or by calling 01527 919869.
Alternatively, contact the group at: facebook.com/Reachcic – its Facebook page.
The performance will be filmed so anyone unable to make the show or get a ticket will be able to watch it afterwards.
