Residential home in Redditch kitted out with life-saving defibrillator

A RESIDENTIAL care home in Redditch which supports adults with severe learning disabilities has been kitted out with a life-saving defibrillator, thanks to one of the service’s users.

Ryan, who has severe autism, suggested the installation for Haversham House to team leader Yvonne and stressed the importance of having a device on site to help save lives.

His thoughtful suggestion highlights the incredible awareness and compassion within our community.

Currently, some public defibrillators are not accessible 24/7 and are located in buildings, such as schools.

Following Ryan’s suggestion, the centre has now made a defib publicly accessible 24/7 outside Haversham House, 327 Bromsgrove Road.

Craig Johnson, the home’s director, said: “We believe this is a story worth sharing – a reminder that great ideas can come from anyone and that individuals with disabilities play a vital role in shaping safer, more caring communities.”
