A VAN which was stolen and on cloned registration plates was recovered by police in Redditch yesterday (Monday).

PCSO Holly Preston from Redditch Police Safer Neighbourhood Team was on patrol when a member of the public approached them on Barnwood Close, Church Hill.

The resident had conducted checks using the ‘vehicle smart’ app and noticed the van’s colour was different on the app to how it was in reality.

It was then that PCSO Preston carried out further checks which revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen and had been cloned.

The van has now been seized for forensic examination.

PCSO Preston said: “If you have a suspicion about a vehicle that looks like it has been left/dumped on a road then please report it to 101 or using our online reporting system.

“You can also use DVLA website to check the registration plates are registered to the correct vehicle.”
