Moons Moat pupils celebrate town twinning with special performance

PUPILS from Moon’s Moat First School are preparing to take to the stage as they celebrate a new international friendship with Singino School in Mtwara, Tanzania.

The partnership is one of the long-standing Redditch One World Link’s schemes, which the group have been running for the past 40 years.

Children from the school will showcase their talents by singing at a special celebration event at The Boat House at Arrow Valley Park next Saturday, July 5.

There, schools, community groups, and supporters of the Redditch and Mtwara Twinning will gather to honour four decades of global connection.

There will be African art activities for all ages throughout the day and a professional African drumming group from Birmingham performing.

Headteacher Karen Crawford said: “We are absolutely delighted our children will be performing at such a meaningful event.

“This link with Singino School in Mtwara is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to learn about life in another part of the world and to build friendships that could last a lifetime.”

The twinning aims to foster mutual understanding and respect between the two schools, with plans for shared projects, cultural exchanges, and collaborative learning experiences.

The children are said to be ‘buzzing with excitement’ as they rehearse for their performance, which will be one of the highlights of the anniversary celebration.

The event promises to be a vibrant day of music, storytelling, and community spirit, reflecting the values of unity and global citizenship that Redditch One World Link has championed since 1985.
