UP TO 735 rubber ducks will be launched onto the river Arrow this Saturday (July 5), for the annual Alcester charity duck race.
Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, the event organised by Alcester Bunting and Lighting starts at 4pm from Centenary Field off Gas House Lane.
This year a new corporate duck race will run alongside the main competition giving businesses a chance to sponsor an entry for £25.
Entrants that take the plunge will be provided with the duck ahead of the event so it can be customised to reflect their organisation’s branding.
The first duck to bob along the Arrow to the finish line at Oversley Bridge will be declared the winner.
Competitors for the main event stand a chance of winning £200 for the top spot, £200 for second and £50 for third place.
Ducks will be for sale at Centenary Park from 3pm the day and cost £2 each.
All proceeds go to support the erection, maintenance and purchase of Alcester Christmas lights and summer bunting which last year raised £2,438.
