A REDDITCH fundraiser is swapping her walking boots for a microphone as she prepares to give a talk about her recent 800km trek.
Leigh Walton has been walking the Camino de Santiago, a network of pilgrimage routes leading to the shrine of St James in Santiago de Compostela in Spain for 11 years.
The route begins in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France before crossing the Pyrenees and continuing through northern Spain, passing through major cities including Pamplona, Burgos, and Leon.
In May of this year, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of walking the route over five weeks.
She said: “It was exceptionally tough – and very emotive – but I walked into Santiago de Compostella on June 5 with friends I made along the way.”
She decided, instead of raising funds whilst walking, she would deliver a talk on her trek when she was home.
The talk will start at 7.30pm at Studley Parish Centre on August 1. Guests are encouraged to donate to Aphasia UK.
