UPDATE - Man taken to hospital after fire at Redditch house

A MAN has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a house fire broke out in Redditch.

The fire started at a semi-detached house on Mason Road just before 7am on Tuesday.

West Mercia Police were in attendance at the scene and closed the road at around 7.30am.

A man, woman and teenage girl were already out of the house when medics arrived. The man was treated for serious injuries and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The woman and child were assessed by ambulance staff but did not wish to go to hospital and were discharged at the scene.

Five fire crews, – two from Redditch and one each from Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Evesham also attended to extinguish the blaze.




A spokesperson from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue said: “A semi-detached two-storey house was well alight on both storeys. The fire was fought by four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hosereel jet.

“The roof is being removed and dampening down of hots spots is taking place.


“Three casualties have been handed over to the care of the ambulance service, who are in attendance along with police. Crews remain at the scene with the incident ongoing.”
