WOODROW First School’s end-of-year picnic had some special guests when MP Chris Bloore, borough Mayor Councillor Joanna Kane and Coun Juliet Barker-Smith joined pupils, parents and staff for the celebrations, writes Jeanna Karcz

The big day not only featured games, a conga and ice cream but also celebrated the school as a vibrant community.

Mr Bloore praised the leadership of headteacher Richard Kieran and his team in creating a nurturing school environment, benefiting children both academically and emotionally.

“Woodrow First School is a fantastic place where children, parents and teachers come together to learn, grow and celebrate,” he said.

“Richard and his staff provide a first-class education and foster a strong sense of pride and belonging in the school community.

“It was wonderful to join everyone to mark the end of another successful academic year.

“All the best to the Year 4 pupils moving on to their next adventure in September – and a happy summer holiday to all those returning in the autumn.”

Woodrow First School offers education for pupils from Reception to Year 4.

Mr Bloore has been prioritising education since he was elected in 2024, regularly visiting schools across Redditch.
