Redditch man drowns at Nuneaton’s Ensor Pool

A MAN from Redditch has died after drowning at Ensor’s Pool in Nuneaton.

Emergency services responded to a report at 12:24pm on August 17 (yesterday) that a man had disappeared beneath the water while swimming and not resurfaced for over five minutes.

Two paramedic officers, HART paramedics, an ambulance and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended.

After being recovered from the water, 27-year-old Wojciech Berlan was confirmed to have died.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “HART paramedics worked closely with Warwickshire Fire and Rescue colleagues to search the water whilst the remaining team worked on shore to assist with the search.

“After recovering the man from the water, sadly nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased on scene.




“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man at this truly distressing time.”

 


A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said: “Our thoughts are with Wojciech’s family at this time.”

Police are continuing to investigate on behalf of the coroner.
