Libraries Unlocked is coming soon to Redditch

LIBRARIES Unlocked is set to come to Redditch Library this month.

The scheme is a free membership upgrade which allows customers aged 15 and over and local community groups to access the library outside staffed hours, from 8am to 8pm, six days a week.

During Libraries Unlocked hours, upgraded members can browse, borrow and return books, use a free computer or Wi-Fi, print or photocopy documents, study, hire meeting rooms, attend community events and more.

To continue enjoying full access to library services, including use of the building during extended hours, customers will need to upgrade their membership by completing a short induction.

The sessions run from 10am to 12pm on Monday, September 22, between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday, September 23, from 10am until 12pm next Saturday, September 27, and between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on October 2.

Coun Ian Cresswell, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Communities, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing Libraries Unlocked to Redditch.

“This upgrade gives residents more freedom to use the library in a way that suits their lives and it’s already had a fantastic impact in other parts of the county.

“A brilliant idea – it’s enabled us as a family to access the library more and the best thing Worcestershire Libraries have done since the introduction of self-service.”
