A GROW of around 150 cannabis plants was found this morning (October 22) when officers from Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) executed a drugs warrant.
Police used force to gain entry to an address on Studley Road in Lodge Park just before 8am acting on intelligence gathered around suspicious activity at the house.
Inside the property they found 150 infant cannabis plants across two rooms on the ground floor and one large room on the upper storey of the building.
There were also growing chemicals, a sophisticated hydroponics system, heat lamps and extractor fans to support the grow in the remaining rooms.
No one was at the address, and no arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing and an investigation has been launched.
The cannabis plants will now be seized and destroyed.
Western Power were called to make the property safe from the large electrical rig supporting the equipment being used for the illegal grow.
PC Paulo Valente of Redditch SNT said: “We found around 150 cannabis plants in their infancy, together with a sophisticated production system, but this will now all be seized and destroyed, disrupting the criminal enterprise behind this illegal grow.
“Cannabis grows can be linked to organised crime groups, whose activities fuel further criminality, including modern slavery.
“Tackling these operations is vital to protecting our communities and keeping them safe from harm.”
