THE ORGANISERS of the Rik Mayall Comedy Festival have announced it is officially returning for a second year – from May 29 to June 6, 2026.
And, after an incredibly successful inaugural event, local businesses are being urged to get involved in this growing celebration of comedy and community.
Opportunities include hosting events, decorating shop windows, or simply helping spread the word.
This year’s festival featured 200 events and drew thousands of visitors, boosted local trade, and showcased Droitwich Spa on a national stage. It was even mooted as being the perfect forerunner and pre-event for those comics and groups considering taking shows to the Edinburgh Fringe.
Whether people own a shop, cafe, pub, gallery, beauty salon, or any other kind of business, there are many ways to get involved – big or small.
From hosting events, window dressing, right up to headline sponsorship and everything in-between, supporting the festival is a chance to be part of something that is putting Droitwich Spa on the comedy map.
Festival Director Stuart Panrucker said: “Last year’s success was a massive community effort.
“It brought in visitors from across the UK and even Australia and helped locals rediscover their town.
“We’d love to see even more businesses involved this year – it’s a brilliant opportunity to showcase what makes Droitwich Spa special.”
Coun Richard Morris, leader of Wychavon District Council, added: “The festival exceeded all expectations, with businesses reporting best-ever takings.
”The inaugural festival featured comedy legends like Greg Davies, Shaparak Khorsandi, Peter Richardson, and Helen Lederer and was praised for its vibrant atmosphere and creative use of local venues.”
