THE POPPY cascade which trails from the Inkberrow Church tower has now been officially launched and is there for to see in all its glory.
The installation, which was the brainchild of church warden Melanie Hart and Tina Hill from Inkberrow WI, features 6.252 crocheted and knitted poppies.
They were created by more than 200 tenacious knitters, ranging from six to 92 years old and including a vicar and a chimney sweep.
Poppies were knitted communally in the village pub whilst others came via the post from supporters in Lanzarote.
The cascade was installed for the first time last year.
And there are also three purple poppy wreaths to pay tribute to animals which have lost their lives in conflicts over the years
The same team also created displays for Cookhill, Kington and Dormston Churches as well as the Old Bull pub in Inkberrow.
Melanie spoke about the achievement with pride, adding she was very grateful for all the support from the village.
“Everyone took the project to their hearts and we couldn’t have done it without them.”
The display will be in situ during November.
Inkberrow WI will provide tea and cake for visitors – from 2pm to 4pm each day – in St Peter’s Church.
