A TEENAGE Redditch break dancer is seeking support in a bid to compete against the world’s best.
Blake Clarke, 14, already competes throughout the UK and has recently returned from his first international ‘battle’ in the Netherlands.
The St Augustine’s Catholic High School pupil said: “I love breaking and want to go as far as I can.
“I’m gaining experience and am really pleased with my performances so far this year.
“In Holland, I made the top eight out of 48 under-17s – my opponents are often a lot older than me.”
Earlier in the year, he won in Edinburgh and reached the latter stages of the B-boy world championships in Manchester, which featured top breaking stars from Japan.
Blake won a competition in Wales the weekend before last and made the top 16 in an adult competition in Newcastle last weekend.
Next up, he will be heading to Bradford at the end of November.
Blake was a talented junior gymnast before switching to breaking. He trains for more than 12 hours each week across four evenings.
Blake is sponsored by Transmec, a logistics company based in Redditch.
He is now seeking additional support to enable him to participate in more competitions around the world.
His mum, Emma, said: “Transmec have been absolutely amazing and it would be fantastic if a few more local businesses could come on board to help cover the costs.
“Blake loves what he does and wants to go as far as he can.
“Every bit of support makes a difference.”
Anyone who is able to help should call Emma on 07584 672169.
