Life of King Richard III topic Redditch History Society last talk of the year

THE LATEST talk in Redditch History Society’s annual programme takes place this Monday, December 8, and focuses on the life of King Richard III.

The presentation is being given by speaker will be Max Keen, a retired teacher and avid historian who has gained many followers for his stimulating appearances and his animated talks on the expanding range of historical figures he is passionate about.

Max not only gives lectures on his subjects, he inhabits the characters and dresses in historically accurate full costume as appropriate including, in this instance, a suit of armour.

The presentation will also include multi-media projection.

This lively exposition of the many fascinating and controversial facets of the life of Richard III, the last Plantagenet and the king from the 15th century whose body was found in a car park.

The talk promises to be another riveting afternoon of history and a spectacular final talk for 2025. Mince pies will be available after the meeting.




The society meets from 2pm to 4pm on the second Monday of every month.

Non-members are always welcome for a £4 admission fee and refreshments are available after the talk for just 50p per person.


There will be no meeting in January, but the 2026 season starts on February 9 with a talk on The Worcestershire Regiment by Lt Col (Retired) Mark Jackson.
