Controversial planning application for 51-room HMO at former Blue Inn Hotel withdrawn

A CONTROVERSIAL planning application for  a 51-room house of multiple occupancy (HMO) at the former Blue Inn Hotel on Far Moor Lane in Redditch has been withdrawn.

The application, submitted last month, caused uproar in the town, and there was over 500 objections on the planning portal website.

The proposal would have seen the building change from a 51-room hotel to a 51-room HMO, with a reconfiguration of the existing two-block building.

Politicians across the borough spoke out about their concerns, with MP Chris Bloore writing an official objection.

Mr Bloore said he was delighted with the news, but warned residents to stay vigilant.

He said: “The applicant could come back with a new changed application.

“But this is great news, and thank you to everyone who put in a lot of work to help combat this application.”
