WORCESTERSHIRE is set to receive around £148.7million in funding to allow councils to repair roads across the county.
This funding will allow councils to repair potholes and resurface damaged roads, prevent new defects from forming and deliver smoother and safer journeys for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
To ensure transparency and value for money, councils will be required to publish clear maintenance and pothole data to unlock the full incentive funding.
Redditch MP Chris Bloore has welcomed the news.
He said: “Residents regularly raise the condition of local roads with me and they are absolutely right to expect action.
“This funding will help fix more potholes, improve safety and make everyday journeys smoother and safer across Redditch.
“Labour promised to take action on the state of our roads and this investment shows we are putting our money where our mouth is.”
