A NUISANCE shoplifter from Redditch who was arrested on Saturday is now behind bars after being sentenced on Monday.
Chad Feeney, 35, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to a total of 40 weeks at Kidderminster Magistrates Court after being charged and found guilty of the following offences: –
• Five counts of theft from store committed between January 3 and 15
• One count of possession of a class A drug – cocaine
• One count of possession of a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place
Feeney was sentenced to six weeks for each of the theft offences to run concurrently and 16 weeks for possess knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place to run consecutively.
A previous suspended sentence was also activated, bringing his total custodial term to 40 weeks.
He was further ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £187 for the theft offences.
PC James Hall of Redditch SNT said: “We are pleased to get a custodial sentence for Feeney who was not only causing harm to our shop owners but also found in possession of drugs and a knife which have no place in our community.
“We continue to work with stores to clamp down on shoplifting which can affect retail prices, insurance premiums and damages local communities through fear of crime.”
