Cannabis grow uncovered in Redditch

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a cannabis grow was discovered at a residential property in Redditch earlier this week.

Officers were called to the address on Larkfield Road early on Wednesday morning (January 20) after concerns were raised that the property was left insecure.

A cannabis grow spread across multiple rooms of the house was found.

Over 50 mature plants were seized from the address as well as a number of plants which had already been harvested.

Two men, aged 33 and 50, have since been arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation.

The investigating officers say enquiries are continuing.

Det Con Vince from Proactive CID said: “Patrol officers were quickly deployed to the address earlier this week and were able to secure valuable evidence.

“Cannabis grows of this scale and nature are often linked to serious organised crime groups. The impact they have on a community and victims can go far beyond the growing and selling of cannabis, and such activity will not be tolerated.

“We arrested and interviewed two people in relation to the incident on Wednesday, and they have been bailed as our enquiries continue.”
