Redditch clothing swap hailed a success

THE THIRD community swap shop in Redditch has been hailed a success.

The event, aimed at promoting a circular economy and reducing textile waste, saw residents come together to donate and exchange quality clothing and goods entirely for free.

The scheme highlights a growing local movement toward sustainable fashion and community support during the ongoing cost-of-living challenges.

Event organiser Katie Hughes said the atmosphere was incredible.

“It was a pleasure to see the community coming together to support a more sustainable way of shopping.

“By choosing to swap instead of buying new, our attendees played a direct part in reducing waste and helping community members find quality items at no cost.

“The event’s success was made possible by the support of my friends and family in helping me run the event by sorting clothes, transporting equipment and providing refreshments.”

Around 603 items were successfully diverted from potential waste and the event promoted a circular economy within the local community.

Plans for the next Swap Shop are already in discussion for spring.
