Redditch man sentenced for shoplifting, assault and drugs

A MAN from Redditch has been sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for shoplifting, possession of drugs and assault.

Nico Bradley, 35, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at Kidderminster Magistrates Court yesterday (February 12) where he was sentenced for 13 counts of theft from a shop, one count of theft, possession of a Class C controlled substance and assault.

Insp Richard Field of Redditch and Bromsgrove Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This result sends a clear message that shoplifting is not a victimless crime and is taken seriously by both the police and the courts.

“Tackling retail crime is a key part of the Home Office Winter of Action and the national Retail Crime Action Plan, and we are committed to acting swiftly when offenders target local businesses.

“I want to thank the officers from the Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team who worked tirelessly to gather the evidence, locate Bradley, and secure a swift conviction within 24 hours of arrest.

“Their hard work demonstrates our commitment to supporting retailers and keeping Redditch safe.”
