Redditch MP and Rev Lawlor discuss bringing interfaith events back to the town

TOWN MP Chris Bloore and Rev Canon Paul Lawlor have got together to discuss plans to re-establish interfaith events across Redditch.

The meeting focused on Rev Lawlor’s leadership of the Redditch Mission Area following his transition from his previous role as Vicar at St Stephen’s Church.

The discussion also covered the important role faith groups play in supporting residents, strengthening community cohesion and delivering practical support in neighbourhoods including Woodrow and Greenlands.

A key topic was the potential return of interfaith gatherings that previously brought together different religious communities across the town to promote dialogue, understanding and collaboration.

Mr Bloore said: “Rev Lawlor has been such an important leader at the heart of our community for many years and it’s always a pleasure to sit down and talk with him.

“We talked about his transition from his role as vicar at St Stephen’s to focus on leading the wider Mission Area and the positive work he continues to deliver across our faith communities.

“Rev Lawlor and I have often discussed re-establishing interfaith events that used to bring different faith groups together across the town and I hope we can make progress on this in the near future.”

Rev Lawlor continues to lead services and community engagement across the Mission Area while supporting projects that strengthen local neighbourhoods and provide outreach to residents.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore potential support for church-led projects and funding opportunities that could benefit community projects in areas where faith organisations play a key role in local life.
