Redditch charities get cash boost after Masonic Grants Day

CHARITIES in the town got a cash boost last weekend as Redditch Masonic held their Grants Day.

Organisations including Air Cadets, Indigo Arts, Girl Guides, Touchstones, Sandycroft, Sea Cadets, Alcester Football Club, YMCA, Redditch Scouts, and Needlework all got a share of the £19,000 pot.

Also included were Fisher House, a facility for families of injured Service Personnel evacuated from conflict and The Mary Stevens Hospice, both charities are supported by the Province of Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

On his welcome address W Brother Brian Hair Chairmen of The Redditch Masonic Hall Charity stated that this year’s awards were focused in supporting young people.

The awards were presented by W Brother Peter Clarke, assistant provincial Grand Master of Warwickshire and W Brother Del Padmore assistant provincial Grand Master of Worcestershire.

Following the presentation of the awards W Brother Peter Clarke said: “It was both a pleasure and a humbling experience to present these cheques on behalf oftThe Redditch Masonic Charity.

“Hearing the stories behind each of the Charities receiving support was incredibly inspiring and offered a real insight into the outstanding work they do within their communities.

“To witness £19,000 being donated by one Masonic centre, primarily to support youth organisations in the local area, was truly special.

“The afternoon concluded with the wonderful presentation of a further donation towards the Warwickshire Tercentenary Appeal for Fisher House. It was a truly memorable and rewarding way to spend a Sunday afternoon.”

W Brother Del Padmore added: “It was a great honour to have been able to assist in the presentation of cheques from The Redditch Masonic Charity to such good and worthwhile causes.

“All the recipients were extremely passionate about their individual causes. The challenges they face on a day-to-day basis, and the value they make to everyday lives is astounding.

“It is my hope that the donations they have received, will go in some way into securing their futures and helping those in need. Special mention should also be given to the Redditch Masonic Charity for their continued efforts to make local communities that much more secure.”
