Care home residents enjoy uplifting afternoon of gardening activity in Mappleborough Green

RESIDENTS at a Studley care home enjoyed a peaceful and engaging afternoon of planting seeds and flowers, bringing colour, creativity, and a strong sense of purpose to the home.

The activity saw residents from Haywood Lodge Care Home come together to plant a variety of seeds and flowers, taking part in a relaxing hands-on session designed to support wellbeing, encourage gentle movement, and spark conversation.

The event offered residents the chance to connect with nature and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of gardening.

Care home staff supported the session, ensuring everyone could take part at their own pace.

Residents shared stories, compared planting techniques, and enjoyed the calming environment as they worked together to prepare pots and flowerbeds.

Georgia Cooney, home manager said: “This was a lovely, relaxing afternoon for our residents. Gardening is such a rewarding activity, and it was wonderful to see everyone involved, smiling, and enjoying the fresh air. We’re all excited to watch everything grow.”
