LONGSERVING town councillor Gill Forman has been formally installed as Alcester’s new mayor at the annual council meeting on May 5.

She works as an office manager and has lived in Alcester for most of her life with her family of three daughters and two grandsons.

Coun Forman represents the council on the town hall committee and is also a councillor for Kinwarton Parish Council.

Responding to her appointment, Councillor Forman said she was delighted to be appointed mayor for the coming year.

“Alcester is such a vibrant and welcoming town and a very special place to live or work.

We encourage our residents to get involved with and support the numerous and varied organisations and community groups in Alcester and continue to encourage people to visit our town.”

She vowed to continue the work of Coun Henderson, who she said had been a “pillar of our community” for the past year.

Coun Forman acknowledged his hard work and the extensive fundraising efforts made over the past year for his nominated mayoral charity, Alcester Day Care, which totalled an impressive £19,584.83.

The centre works to support people with memory issues or dementia, their carers, family and friends.

The new mayor will continue to support Alcester Day Care as her chosen charity for the coming civic year.

Coun Ashfield lives in Kinwarton with her husband and has a son and a daughter.
