THE FIRST jobs and skills festival held at The Canopies in Redditch has been hailed a success.
The event, delivered in partnership with Redditch Jobcentre, brought together over 40 local employers, training providers, education organisations and community groups.
It offered attendees the opportunity to explore vacancies, apprenticeships and training opportunities in a festival-style atmosphere rather than the traditional jobs fair format.
RecruitFest attracted record-breaking attendance of more than 500 people for a local careers event. Organisers confirmed some attendees received job offers on the day.
Speaking after the event to the Standard, Redditch MP Chris Bloore, said: “RecruitFest was about bringing local people and local opportunities together in a way that felt positive, welcoming and accessible.
“The response exceeded all expectations. We saw record attendance throughout the day.
“I was particularly pleased to hear some attendees received job offers there and then. Redditch has fantastic employers, training providers and education organisations.
“Too often, people simply don’t know about the opportunities available on their doorstep.”
The event was delivered with support from the Department for Work and Pensions, Redditch Jobcentre, Careers Worcestershire, McDonald’s Redditch, Tenpin Redditch and the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, alongside dozens of local employers and community organisations.
