ISA Zaroo starred with the bat as Redditch Entaco CC successfully chased down a 246-run target in a thrilling three-wicket win against Stourport-on-Severn.

Entaco reached 247-7 with seven balls to spare as Zaroo and Masharraf Shahzad both recorded half-centuries for the home side at Bromsgrove Road.

Stourport posted 245-8 from their overs as Noman Chaudhry and Waqas Ali took seven wickets between them.

Despite the win, Redditch remain bottom of the Worcestershire County League Premier Division table as Entaco ended their four-game losing run.

Entaco won the toss and elected to field as Stourport openers Samuel Foley (51) and Peter Hawk (38) put on 89 runs for the first wicket.

Chaudhry (4-41) accounted for both openers in quick succession although Charlie Foley (48) and Bonga Makaka (55) kept the runs flowing.

Muhammad Safyan (1-28) accounted for C Foley to break up the partnership before Chaudhry returned to remove Ryan Derrick (11) and Mohammed Shoaib Iqbal (0) in the same over.

Makaka’s late flurry moved Stourport close to the 250-run mark before Ali (3-76) enjoyed a late burst with the ball to take three wickets.

In pursuit of 246 for victory, Redditch lost opener Rizwan Chaudhry (2) to the second ball of their reply.

However, Faheem Shahid (38) and Shahzad (55) combined for a solid second-wicket stand with the latter’s half-century coming in a patient 109-ball knock.

And Zaroo (79) also reached a half-ton in a 97-ball innings which included 11 fours and two maximums.

The partnership of N Chaudhry (12 not out) and Faisal Mehmood (8 not out) guided Entaco to victory with seven balls remaining as the Redditch club secured just a second outright win of the season.

Redditch are next in action against Barnt Green 2nds on Saturday, August 1 with play to begin at 12pm(midday) at Cherry Hill Road.
