Keeping your possessions safe

Redditch Editorial 5th Feb, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

POLICE took to the streets of Redditch in a bid to help keep residents’ valuables safe.

Members of North Worcestershire Community Safety Partnership and West Mercia Police toured the borough on Saturday (January 31) offering free bike coding and property marking kits to the public as well as advice on home security and personal safety.

Locations visited included Arrow Valley Lake, Church Hill Centre and Woodrow Centre. The sessions were inspired by the fact many people will have received high value gifts over Christmas which could make them a target for criminals.

Coun Yvonne Smith, responsible for community safety, said: “At this time of the year when it’s still getting dark very early, many people think about how they can improve their home or personal security and feel safer. Quite often it’s difficult to know where to start but the roadshow event meant our officers could go to residents directly, manning the stalls to offer advice, products and help residents feel more secure where they live.”
