A whole new look at Robin Hood

Redditch Editorial 8th Aug, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

SO YOU think you know the story of Robin Hood? Well think again as a new hilarious retelling of the tale comes to the Palace Theatre in Redditch.

Ha Ha Hood! And the Prince of Leaves promises to be the funniest farce in the forest and there will be a few familar faces to enjoy along the way.

Su Pollard – loved by millions in Hi-de-Hi! and You Rang, M’Lord – and comedy duo Cannon and Ball team-up for this all-out outrageous side splitting romp.

Ten years after a very messy divorce Robin and Marian are forced back together to fight the Sheriff once more. Little John and Friar Tuck, now considerably older and rougher around the edges, join the merry pair to try and save the citizens of Nottingham.

The show has been created by Ben Langley, who also takes on the mantle of Robin, and is co-founder of the Ha! Ha! team which has been writing and touring since 2007 with other successful shows including Ha Ha Holmes!, Ha Ha Hitler! and Ha Ha Hamlet!.

He said: “For me, what I saw in Ha Ha! was a British version of The Reduced Shakespeare Company which, rather than taking the micky out of us, was embracing us and was very pro-British and was a tribute to all of the great comedy artists and routines that have made Britain funny over the last 50 to 100 years.”

Ha Ha! Hood gallops into Redditch on Friday, September 19 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20.75 and are available from the box office on 01527 65203. The show is suitable for those aged 12 and above.
