A REDDITCH councillor donated £1,000 to a children’s breakfast club.
Coun Joe Baker, who represents Arrow Valley East on Worcestershire County Council, used some of his divisional funds to to help the Roman Way First School group.
He said it was important make sure children were receiving a proper breakfast before they started school.
“It is my belief that in this economic climate, with social hardship on the increase, we have to ensure we do every thing we can to minimise the hardship parents face when budgeting and bringing up a young family.” he said.
“Breakfast clubs are a great way to help alleviate food poverty and to encourage social wellbeing in a group environment where children can interact with each other over breakfast.”
He also praised staff and volunteers at the YMCA who organise the group.
