A CAR slid on its roof for 100 metres before coming to a stop agains the central reservation on the M42 this morning.
The accident was the first of two that took place between 8.15am and 8.20am and led to the closure of the motorway in both directions between junctions one and two.
A woman in her forties was not seriously injured in the accident but was complaining of head and neck pain and taken to the Alexandra Hospital after being immoblised using a neck collar and spinal board.
The paramedic, who was treating two patients from the earlier accident, heard the crash take place just 500 metres away on the southbound carriageway and ran to the scene to assist.
A woman in her fifties was also taken to the Alex as a result of the first accident, a two-vehicle nose-to-tail crash in lane three.
The driver of the car in front, a man in his thirties, was uninjured but his vehicle received significant damage to the rear.
A response vehicle came across the first accident on the northbound carriageway just moments after it happened and was joined by a further response vehicle, two ambulances and a paramedic area support officer.
Two police officers who came across the incidents, along with an off duty firefighter, also stopped to lend assistance.
