SINGERS from a borough high school are preparing their vocal cords to do battle in their annual Pop Icons competition.

Students from St Augustine’s Catholic High School will be competing against each other at the Palace Theatre next Tuesday (February 10) to celebrate the event’s 10th anniversary.

To mark the milestone the school has invited former winners of the County Pop Icons competition to entertain audiences at various stages through the night.

Those taking part include actor Jack Montgomery, as well as Laura Woodall and Sarah Bridgewater.

Judges for the competition include Dan Sealey, from Ocean Colour Scene, Ben Sidwell from BBC MidlandsToday and music adviser Alan Smith.

The night starts at 7pm and follows the theme of Bugsy Malone.

Tickets cost £7 and are available from the Palace Theatre box office on 01527 65203.
