Butler gives singers the thumbs up

COUGHTON Court was the backdrop to a concert involving more than 100 children from the village school.

All 136 pupils at Coughton CofE School worked alongside Pop UK to learn seven songs which were then performed at an open air concert at the stately home.

Assistant head teacher Kate Langley organised the event which was watched by parents.

She said: “We were delighted when Lady Throckmorton said that we could use Coughton Court for the concert. And at the end, she sent a message with her butler saying how enchanting she thought the singing was.”

Six Christian values were included in the songs – love, hope, thankfulness, peace, trust and forgiveness – and after being taught the songs, the school was then turned into a recording studio for Pop UK to turn their work into a CD.

And as a surprise bonus track, the teachers performed a track which included a rap from new head Adam West.

Mrs Langley added: “The children really enjoyed the two-week project and the concert. And they particularly enjoyed Mr West’s rap.”
