THERE was an emotional reunion when Stratford district council dog warden Lisa Parkes visited born-again pooch Buddy this week.
Buddy was found abandoned and near death’s door in Studley back in March but won the hearts of thousands of followers Lisa’s Facebook page as she battled to save his life.
“It was such an emotional reunion. Buddy looked fantastic! He’s an absolute credit to Tracy and Russ Johnson of Life Commitment Dog Rescue,” said Lisa.
Buddy was given into Tracy and Russ care because the coule have devoted 25 years to saving neglected, abused and abandoned dogs, and dogs on death row.
According to Lisa, the care Buddy has received is second-to-none.
“Buddy has been nurtured and showered with love. Tracy and Russ threw Buddy a lifeline and they’ve worked wonders. Their passion shines,” said Lisa.
Buddy has now doubled in weight, and is now available for adoption, but only within the Derby, Nottingham and Loughborough area, far away from where he was found.
He is described as a ‘loving and playful’ Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Boxer and is around 18 months old.
Lisa says: “The capacity that dogs have to let go of the past and forgive is incredible. Buddy is definitely testament to this. Despite the suffering he has endured at the hands of man, Buddy’s spirit remains unbroken.
“Buddy is an absolutely cracking character. Here’s hoping his ‘happy ever after’ is just around the corner.”
