DOG-owners are being urged to vaccinate their dogs after a stray was discovered in Worcester with a potentially killer disease.
Bourbon, who was found earlier this month wandering the city streets, was diagnosed with Parvo when he was picked up by dog wardens.
Parvo is a highly contagious viral disease which can be easily contained in dogs with simple vaccinations. But if contracted pets have awful symptoms including severe diarrhoea, which, if left untreated, can lead to fatalities.
Dog Warden Pip Singleton said: “If your dog contracts Parvo then the vets bills will be much bigger than the cost of vaccinations and boosters – hence why these poor creatures are just dumped.”
Over the last two years Pip has seen cases of Parvo increase in the strays she has picked up, by five-times.
