Brewing up festival fun

EXCITEMENT is building for the Redditch Bandstand Community Festival which will be bringing the people of the town together – to celebrate its diversity.

On the agenda will be food from around the world, Bhangra dancing, a Samba band, plus much more – and in addition there will be a throwback to the old Redditch carnival as Wilson’s funfair will also be on the Church Green.

Organised by Sue Yeng, the event aims to show the strength of the various communities by bringing all the areas of the town to the heart of Redditch.

“Redditch has such a vibrant community yet it rarely comes together and this is an opportunity for everyone to unite and celebrate all the good that’s here,” she said.

At the heart of the event will be a Disney Parade with people encouraged to dress up as their favourite Disney characters – and there will be prizes on offer for the best likenesses.

Meanwhile local Brownies will also be offering tea at the bandstand for the crowds to enjoy while local pubs and cafes will also be open for business.

The event Bandstand Communty Festival is on Saturday, September 19 – look out for next week’s Redditch Standard for more details.
