POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Batchley as she made her way home from Redditch town centre.

The 53-year-old, who had visited a pizza take-away restaurant on Unicorn Hill at around midnight, was attacked as she walked along a footpath leading to Vicarage Crescent on August 21.

She was grabbed from behind before falling to the ground where the thug shoved her head onto the tarmac, smashing her glasses.

The suspect only fled the scene once the victim began to shout for help.

The woman suffered bruising to her face but nothing was stolen during the incident.

Anyone with information, or who may know of any similar incidents, should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 0377S on August 21.
