A WOMAN has died following a serious collision between a scooter and a car on the outskirts of Alcester yesterday (October 28) afternoon.

The incident happened on the A46, towards Bidford, at 4.48pm when the victim, who was in her 20s, was driving a Herald Moped which was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Zafira.

A rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham attended the scene whilst there were closures on Oversley Mill and Salford Bridge.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The woman riding the scooter had suffered multiple serious injuries and was in traumatic cardiac arrest.

“Resuscitation attempts were carried out at the scene by medics including advanced life support techniques.

“Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, nothing could be done to save the woman and sadly she was confirmed dead at the scene.”

No one else was injured in the incident.

A 23-year-old man from Evesham has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving.

He has been released on police bail until December 4.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident reference number 223 of October 28.
